Etymology of PINK SHEETS
The term "Pink Sheets" originated from the practice of listing stock prices on pink-colored sheets of paper. The use of the color pink was a deliberate choice to distinguish these sheets from the regular stock exchange listings, which were traditionally listed on white or blue sheets of paper. The Pink Sheets were initially known as the "National Quotation Bureau Pink Sheets" and later became an electronic quotation system called "OTC Pink". The name has persisted even though the pink-colored paper sheets are no longer in use.
